Overview

Singu Chuli, also known as the Fluted Peak due to its striking ridged appearance, is the second-highest trekking peak in Nepal. Towering at 6,501 meters, it is situated deep within the Annapurna Sanctuary, west of Gangapurna Himal, and is closely connected to Tharpu Chuli (5,663m) via the Hinchuli Peak (6,441m) ridge.

This peak offers not only a demanding ascent but also some of the most breathtaking panoramic views in the entire Annapurna region. From the summit, climbers are rewarded with sweeping vistas of Annapurna I (8,091m), Annapurna II (7,937m), Dhaulagiri (8,167m), and the sacred Machhapuchhre (6,993m).

Although classified as a trekking peak, Singu Chuli presents significant technical challenges, especially on its upper sections. Climbers should be prepared for steep ice and snow slopes, crevasses, and the occasional need for fixed ropes. As such, prior mountaineering experience, along with good physical fitness and proper acclimatization, are essential for a safe and successful summit attempt.

For those who make the climb, the reward is unforgettable—the summit views are widely regarded as the best in the Annapurna region, offering a unique vantage point above the Sanctuary’s dramatic amphitheater of peaks.

Day 1 :

DRIVE TO POKHARA (900M / 2,952 FT)

Your journey begins with an early morning drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara, following the scenic Trisuli River valley. The drive takes approximately 7 hours by tourist bus or private vehicle, offering beautiful views of rural Nepalese landscapes, terraced hillsides, and flowing rivers.

Upon arrival in Pokhara Valley, you’ll have time to explore some of the city’s highlights, including:

Devi’s Fall – a dramatic waterfall with an underground outlet,
Gupteshwor Mahadev Cave – a sacred cave located near the falls,
Tal Barahi Temple – a small but iconic temple situated on an island in Phewa Lake,
And enjoy boating on Phewa Lake with the majestic Annapurna range reflecting in the water.

Overnight stay in Pokhara at a hotel.

Day 2 :

DRIVE TO BIRETHANTI & TREK TO HILE (1,400M / 4,592 FT)

Trekking time: Approx. 3 hours
Drive time: Approx. 2 hours

After an early breakfast in Pokhara, we drive for about 2 hours to Birethanti (1,025m), a picturesque village at the edge of the Annapurna Conservation Area and the official starting point of our trek.

From Birethanti, we begin our trek to Hile, a gentle 3-hour walk along scenic trails that pass through lush forests, traditional villages, and small waterfalls. This pleasant stretch gives a great introduction to the beauty of the Annapurna foothills.

Day 3 :

TREK TO GHOREPANI (2,855M / 9,364 FT)

Trekking time: 6–7 hours

After breakfast, we begin our trek with a steep ascent to Ulleri Village (2,070m), which takes about 2 hours and involves climbing a long stone staircase. From Ulleri, the trail becomes more gradual and scenic as we continue through rhododendron and oak forests, reaching Banthanti in about 1 hour, where we stop for lunch.

From Banthanti, enjoy spectacular views of Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Hiunchuli, and Annapurna South. After lunch, the trail continues to ascend gently through dense forest until we reach Ghorepani, a traditional Magar village nestled beneath the towering Himalayan peaks. The views of the surrounding mountains from Ghorepani are often clear and panoramic, especially in the late afternoon.

Day 4 :

Hike to Poon Hill & Trek to Tadapani (2,600m / 8,528 ft)

Trekking time: 5–6 hours

We begin the day with an early morning hike to Poon Hill (3,210m), a 45-minute uphill walk through beautiful rhododendron forests. From the top, we are rewarded with one of the most spectacular mountain panoramas in the Himalayas. The sunrise over the snow-capped peaks is truly unforgettable.

From Poon Hill, you’ll witness a sweeping view of majestic Himalayan giants, including:

After enjoying this stunning view, we return to Ghorepani for breakfast.

The trek then continues with a gradual ascent to Deurali (about 1.5 hours), which sits at the same elevation as Poon Hill. From there, we descend through a dense rhododendron and oak forest for approximately 2 hours until reaching Banthanti, where we stop for lunch. Along the trail, there’s a good chance of spotting wildlife, such as monkeys and colorful Himalayan birds.

After lunch, it’s a final 1-hour walk to reach Tadapani, a peaceful village surrounded by forest and offering even more breathtaking views of Machhapuchhre, Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and Annapurna II.

Day 5 :

TREK TO CHHOMRONG (1,950M / 6,396 FT)

Trekking time: 5–6 hours

Today’s trek begins with a 2-hour descent through lush forested trails filled with rhododendrons and oaks. We eventually reach a suspension bridge, which we cross before starting a gentle ascent toward the small village of Gurjung—a peaceful stop nestled in the hills. This section takes about 1 hour, and we’ll stop here for lunch.

After lunch, the trail continues with a gradual climb, passing through a landslide-affected area that offers open views of the surrounding valleys. The trail then leads us to Chhomrong, one of the largest and most prominent Gurung villages in the Annapurna region.

From Chhomrong, the views are simply stunning—towering peaks like Annapurna South and Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) feel remarkably close, providing a dramatic backdrop to this charming hillside settlement.

Day 6 :

TREK TO DOVAN (2,720M / 8,921 FT)

Trekking time: Approx. 5 hours
After breakfast, we descend numerous stone steps to the river, cross a suspension bridge, and begin a gentle ascent to Sinuwa village (about 2 hours). Continuing through dense forest, we reach Bamboo in around 1.5 hours, where we stop for lunch. The trail then leads through forest paths crossing several small streams before arriving at Dovan after another 1.5 hours.

Day 7 :

TREK TO MACHAPUCHHRE BASE CAMP (MBC) (3,700M / 12,136 FT)

Trekking time: Approx. 5 hours
We trek gently uphill through deep forest to Deurali (about 3 hours), where we take lunch. Then we carefully cross the Avalanche Zone, ascending further to reach Machapuchhre Base Camp. Here, enjoy spectacular and close-up views of the mountains.

Day 8 :

TREK TO ANNAPURNA BASE CAMP (ABC) (4,130M / 13,546 FT)

Trekking time: 2–3 hours
A gradual climb leads us to Annapurna Base Camp through increasingly sparse vegetation and rocky terrain within the Annapurna Sanctuary, surrounded by towering peaks such as Annapurna I, Bahra Shikhar, Annapurna South Face, Hiunchuli, Machhapuchhre, Tharpu Peak, and Singu Chuli.

Day 9 :

ACCLIMATIZATION DAY AT ANNAPURNA BASE CAMP

We spend the day resting or taking short hikes to properly acclimatize to the altitude at ABC, preparing for the climb ahead.

Day 10 :

TREK TO SINGU CHULI BASE CAMP (4,350M / 14,268 FT)

Trekking time: 4–5 hours
We trek from Annapurna Base Camp to the Singu Chuli Base Camp, entering the mountaineering zone and preparing for the climb.

Day 11 :

CLIMB TO HIGH CAMP (4,900M / 16,072 FT)

Trekking time: Approx. 5 hours
We head early to High Camp, gaining elevation and adjusting to the challenging terrain.

Day 12 :

CLIMB TO HIGHER CAMP (5,500M / 18,040 FT)

Trekking time: 5–6 hours
After organizing gear, we ascend steep terrain to the Higher Camp, which offers the best access to the summit. Enjoy a stunning sunset as the mountains glow pink in the evening light.

Day 13 :

SUMMIT DAY (6,501M / 21,328 FT) AND RETURN TO HIGH CAMP (4,900M / 16,072 FT)

Trekking time: 8–9 hours
We make the final push to the summit of Singu Chuli, then carefully descend back to High Camp. Upon arrival, rest or take a short hike to soak in the local scenery.

TREK TO MACHAPUCHHRE BASE CAMP (3,700M / 12,136 FT)

Trekking time: 5–6 hours
After a successful summit, we descend back to Machapuchhre Base Camp for overnight rest.

Day 16 :

TREK TO DOVAN (2,720M / 8,921 FT)

Trekking time: 4–5 hours
We continue descending through Deurali and past Himalaya, stopping for lunch and rest before continuing to Dovan.

Day 17 :

TREK TO JHINU (1,600M / 5,248 FT)

Trekking time: 5–6 hours
We descend many stone steps to the river, cross a suspension bridge, and trek through forest to Chhomrong (about 3 hours). From there, we continue through forest to reach Jhinu (approx. 1.5 hours), known for its natural hot springs.

Day 18 :

TREK TO NAYAPUL, DRIVE TO POKHARA (900M / 2,952 FT)

Trekking time: Approx. 4 hours
We descend stone steps to Nayapul, where our trek ends. Then we transfer by vehicle back to Pokhara for rest and relaxation.

Day 19 :

DRIVE OR FLY TO KATHMANDU (1,350M / 4,428 FT)

Early morning departure from Pokhara to Kathmandu by tourist bus or private vehicle.
Optional: Take a 35-minute scenic flight from Pokhara to Kathmandu, with views of the Langtang, Dhaulagiri, and Annapurna ranges. End of tour.

If continuing your adventure, options include Chitwan Jungle Safari, river rafting, or other tours starting from Kathmandu.
