Situated just east of one of the most popular treks of Nepal, the Annapurna Base Camp trek, the Mardi Himal trek is a hidden gem. Few trekkers make their way to the Mardi Himal Base Camp spectacularly situated at the base of Mardi Himal and the impressive Machapuchhre. The trail goes along small winding paths, through magical rhododendron forests until you climb out of the forest at an elevation around 3,300 m. The landscape changes quite abruptly into a rugged high mountain landscape, with amazing views of Mardi Himal, Machapuchre, Annapurna South and Hiunchuli.
Your Mardi Himal Trek adventure begins in the City of Arts & Architecture, Kathmandu. Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be greeted by a representative from NTB Treks and Expeditions, who will escort you to your hotel. This day is dedicated to resting or exploring the vibrant streets of Thamel, which is also a popular starting point for trekkers heading to the Annapurna region, including the Mardi Himal Trek.
Before heading to the mountains, spend the day exploring the cultural treasures of Kathmandu, including Swayambhunath, Pashupatinath, Bouddhanath, and Bhaktapur Durbar Square. These sites are UNESCO World Heritage Sites and provide an introduction to the region’s rich culture and heritage, setting the stage for your trek to Mardi Himal.
After breakfast, you’ll drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara, enjoying views of the Annapurna mountain range. From Pokhara, drive to Kande and begin the Mardi Himal Trek with a short 1-hour trek to Potha
Your trek continues as you descend into the lush valleys and cross traditional villages. The path offers stunning views of Mardi Himal and the surrounding peaks, giving you a closer view of the majestic Annapurna range. Landruk, a picturesque village with terraced fields and scenic views, marks the end of your day’s trek.
Today, you’ll trek from Landruk to Low Camp, passing through forests of oak and rhododendron. The altitude increases as you approach the Mardi Himal region, and you will be treated to more spectacular views of Machapuchare (Fishtail Peak) and Annapurna South. You will notice a change in the landscape as you get closer to the base of Mardi Himal.
This is an exciting day as you continue your trek to High Camp, situated at 3550 meters. As you get closer to Mardi Himal, the views of the surrounding peaks become even more dramatic. The landscape shifts, and you’ll feel the altitude as you head further into the heart of the Mardi Himal Trek region. The night at High Camp offers a clear view of the iconic Mardi Himal peak and Machapuchare.
On this day, you will go on an excursion to Mardi West Camp, which lies at an altitude of 4500 meters. From here, you can experience stunning panoramic views of the Annapurna range and Mardi Himal. The trek provides an incredible opportunity to view the rugged terrain and spectacular peaks. After your excursion, return to High Camp for the night.
Drive back to Kathmandu from Pokhara, taking the scenic route along the Prithvi Highway. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you’ll have free time to explore or relax before a farewell dinner in the evening. This is your last opportunity to reflect on your Mardi Himal Trek experience and share stories with fellow trekkers.
This is the last day of your visit. You can enjoy shopping and buying souvenirs for friends and relatives as a memory of the Mardi Himal Trek. We will drop you off at the airport 3 hrs before the departure time. The memories that you have shared with us matter a lot. The Mardi Himal Trek is a hidden gem in the Annapurna region, offering breathtaking views of Mardi Himal, Machapuchhre (Fishtail), Annapurna South, and Hiunchuli. It is a moderate trek that combines beautiful forests, rugged mountain terrain, and less-crowded trails.
This is a moderate-level trek suitable for both novice and experienced trekkers. The trails include gradual ascents and descents with daily walking of 4–6 hours on average.
The highest point reached on this trek is Mardi West Camp at 4,500 meters, which offers spectacular panoramic views.

While the Mardi Himal Trek does not go extremely high, some individuals may feel mild symptoms above 3,000m. The itinerary allows for a gradual ascent to help with acclimatization.
The entire trip takes 11 days, including arrival, city sightseeing, trekking, and return to Kathmandu.
