The day introduces us to the beginning of our trek. After having breakfast, we drive to Dhap, 240km west of Kathmandu about 9 hours of drive. The trail then contours the hillside below Taklung Danda and goes through a beautiful forested trail. Overnight stay at tea house.
Starting early in the morning, you’ll follow a gradual trail to the summit, covered with prayer flags. You might have panoramic views from Annapurna to Kanchenjunga. From the top of Pikey Peak, you’ll follow a ridgeline that starts flat and then steepens as you enter the forest to Jase Bhanjyang at Loding, you’ll have a couple of choices for accommodation which are both simple and charming. Overnight stay at tea house lodge.
Today will be our exploration day around the village. We will hike up to the Thupten Chholing Gompa which was founded in the 19th century. The trail ascends uphill along the Junbesi Khola to the Gompa. The Gompa offers in-depth insights into the culture and religious heritage of the region. After spending some time here, we return to Junbesi. Overnight stay at tea house lodge.
Right after breakfast, we cross the river at the bottom of town and climb through the forest up to Salung, from where the views of Mount Everest (8,848m), Chamlang (7,319 m), and Makalu (8,481m) might be seen and continue to trail. Overnight stay at tea house lodge.
Today, leave the main trekking route again and take a beautiful path down to Phaplu through the forest.
