DAY 01: ARRIVAL IN THE CITY OF ARTS & ARCHITECTURE – KATHMANDU [1400m] | Welcoming Guests is our Passion
The Jomsom Muktinath Trek adventure begins upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. A representative from NTB Treks and Expeditions will greet you and assist with your transfer to the designated hotel. After check-in, take the rest of the day to relax or explore the vibrant streets of Kathmandu. Enjoy a peaceful evening in the capital city. Overnight stay at the hotel.
DAY 02: FULL DAY SIGHTSEEING IN KATHMANDU [1400 m] | Exploring Cultural Marvels
After breakfast, embark on a full-day sightseeing tour of Kathmandu’s cultural and historical landmarks. Begin with Bouddhanath Stupa, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the largest stupas in the world. Continue to Pashupatinath Temple, Nepal’s holiest Hindu shrine, where you can witness religious rituals along the Bagmati River. The tour then takes you to Bhaktapur Durbar Square, renowned for its ancient temples, palaces, and traditional Newari culture. After an insightful day of exploration, return to the hotel for an overnight stay.
DAY 03: DRIVE TO NAYAPUL/ HILE & TREK TO TIRKHEDHUNGA [1540 m] | Entering the Annapurna Region
On the third day of our Jomsom Muktinath Trek, we will drive to Hile in the morning after breakfast. We will reach Hile and enjoy the natural scenery and amazing beauty of nature along the way. After reaching Hile, our trek starts towards Tirkhedhunga. We will pass through quiet, amazing trails leading to beautiful scenic views. We will spend the night in Tirkhedhunga in a hotel/ lodge.
DAY 04: TREK FROM TIRKHEDHUNGA TO GHOREPANI LUNCH AT ULLERI | Feel the Natural Beauty
After breakfast, the trek begins with a steep ascent to Ulleri, a charming Magar village at 2,070m. The trail consists of thousands of stone steps, making this stretch a challenging but rewarding climb. As you ascend higher, the lush forests of rhododendrons and oak trees come into view. The trek continues through Banthanti and Nangethanti, where you can rest and enjoy the scenery. By late afternoon, you will reach Ghorepani, a picturesque village offering stunning views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges. Overnight stay at a teahouse in Ghorepani.
DAY 05: EARLY MORNING TREK TO POONHILL [3210 m] FOLLOWED BY TREK TO TATOPANI [1190 m] | Magnificent Sunrise View
Wake up early to hike up to Poon Hill (3,210m), a famous viewpoint known for its breathtaking sunrise over the Himalayas. Witness panoramic views of Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), and other peaks as the first rays of sunlight illuminate the snow-capped mountains. After soaking in the views, descend back to Ghorepani for breakfast. The trek then continues downhill through lush forests and charming villages toward Tatopani (1,190m), famous for its natural hot springs. You can relax in the warm waters, soothing your tired muscles after the trek. Overnight stay at a lodge in Tatopani.
DAY 06:TREK TO GHASA [2010 m] | Entering the Mustang Region
Leaving Tatopani, the trail follows the Kali Gandaki River through lush subtropical forests. You will pass through Dana and Rupse Chhahara, home to one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Nepal. As you ascend toward Ghasa (2,010m), the landscape starts to change, with drier terrain replacing the greenery. This marks your entry into the Mustang region. Ghasa is a small settlement known for its Tibetan-style houses and warm hospitality. Overnight stay at a teahouse in Ghasa.
DAY 07: TREK TO MARPHA [2670 m] & LUNCH AT LETE | Explore the beauty of the Mustang Region
The trek continues alongside the Kali Gandaki River, offering spectacular views of Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, and Nilgiri. You will pass through Lete and Kalopani, where you’ll take a break for lunch. As you continue, the landscape becomes even more arid, characteristic of Mustang’s high-altitude desert. By afternoon, you will reach Marpha (2,670m), a beautiful village famous for its apple orchards, whitewashed houses, and Buddhist monasteries. Don’t miss trying the locally made apple brandy or cider! Overnight stay at a lodge in Marpha.
DAY 08: TREK TO KAGBENI [2800 m] VIA JOMSOM [2720 m] |Lunch at Jomsom & Overnight in Kagbeni | Witness the breathtaking view of the wind and the mountains
The trail follows a windy valley toward Jomsom, the administrative center of the Mustang region. Jomsom is known for its unique landscapes, strong afternoon winds, and stunning views of Nilgiri and Dhaulagiri. After exploring Jomsom, you continue toward Kagbeni (2,800m), a medieval village with narrow alleyways, ancient monasteries, and traditional Tibetan culture. Kagbeni is also the gateway to Upper Mustang. Overnight stay at a lodge in Kagbeni.
DAY 09: ASCEND FOR MUKTINATH TEMPLE [3800 m] | Bath in the 108 holy water sprouts
The trek today takes you to Muktinath (3,800m), one of the most sacred pilgrimage sites for both Hindus and Buddhists. The trail ascends gradually, offering breathtaking views of the Kali Gandaki valley and snow-capped peaks. Upon reaching Muktinath, visit the Muktinath Temple, known for its 108 water spouts and the eternal flame that has been burning for centuries. Pilgrims take a holy bath in the freezing water, believing it cleanses sins and brings salvation. After exploring Muktinath, rest at a local lodge for the night.
DAY 10: TREK DOWN TO JOMSOM [2720 m] | Watch one of the challenging airports in the world, Jomsom Airport
After breakfast, descend back to Jomsom following the same route. The downhill trek is relatively easy, allowing you to enjoy the arid landscape and panoramic views. Upon reaching Jomsom, explore the local market, monasteries, and the famous Jomsom Airport. Known as one of the most challenging airports in the world due to its high winds and short runway, watching flights land and take off here is a unique experience. Overnight stay at a lodge in Jomsom.
DAY 11: TREK TO TILICHO LAKE [4919 m] | Witness one of the biggest clear-water lakes
After breakfast, the trek begins towards Tilicho Lake. The trek to Tilicho Lake is considered one of the most scenic in the Annapurna region. As you ascend through rocky terrains and high-altitude meadows, you’ll be surrounded by stunning views of snow-capped peaks. Upon reaching the lake, you will be mesmerized by its pristine blue water, surrounded by a dramatic mountainous landscape. Tilicho Lake is one of the highest lakes in the world, offering a peaceful and serene atmosphere. Overnight stay at a lodge near Tilicho Lake.
DAY 12: EXPLORE TILICHO LAKE [4919 m] AND CONTINUE TO KHANGSAR [3700 m] | Explore the natural beauty of Tilicho
Today, you’ll explore the area around Tilicho Lake. Spend some time soaking in the beauty of this unique place. The landscape is breathtaking, and you can take in views of the surrounding mountains. After spending a good amount of time by the lake, the trek continues towards Khangsar, a small village located in a scenic setting. Khangsar offers a quiet retreat, providing views of the surrounding peaks and valleys. Overnight stay at a lodge in Khangsar.
DAY 13: TREK TO MANANAG [3540 m], LUNCH, & FULL DAY REST | Relax in the calm environment of Manang
After breakfast, you will continue the trek to Manang, a popular resting point on the Annapurna Circuit. The trek is mostly downhill, offering beautiful views of the surrounding landscape. Upon reaching Manang, you’ll have a well-deserved rest day. You can spend the day exploring the village, visiting monasteries, or simply relaxing to acclimatize to the altitude. Manang is a beautiful place to rest before continuing the trek towards the higher altitudes. Lunch will be served along the way, and you will spend the night in Manang.
DAY 14: MANANG TO BHARTANG [2300 m], LUNCH ON THE WAY | Making our way back home.
Today, you will begin the descent towards Bhartang. The trail will take you through lush forests, remote villages, and a serene environment, offering a contrast to the high-altitude landscapes you’ve previously encountered. After having lunch on the way, you will continue trekking towards Bhartang. This day offers a mix of natural beauty and cultural experiences as you interact with locals along the way. Overnight stay at a lodge in Bhartang.
DAY 15: TREK FROM BHARTANG [2300 m] TO DHARAPANI [1960 m] | Experience the Local Lifestyle.
On this day, the trek continues from Bhartang to Dharapani, a significant village along the Annapurna Circuit. As you descend, you’ll pass through traditional villages and terraced fields and enjoy views of the surrounding mountains. Dharapani is a lively village with local shops, lodges, and a good opportunity to observe the local lifestyle. Overnight stay at a teahouse in Dharapani.
DAY 16: DRIVE TO KATHMANDU VIA BESISAHAR | Farewell Dinner in Night.
After breakfast, you’ll take a scenic drive back to Kathmandu via Besisahar (approximately 6-7 hours). The drive will pass through charming villages, lush green valleys, and terraced fields, offering a different perspective of Nepal’s beauty. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you’ll have free time to relax or shop for souvenirs. In the evening, you will enjoy a farewell dinner with cultural performances, celebrating the completion of your incredible trek. Overnight stay at a hotel in Kathmandu.
DAY 17:DEPARTURE TO TRIBHUWAN INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT |
On the final day of your journey, after breakfast, you will be transferred to Tribhuvan International Airport for your departure flight. This marks the end of your Nepal adventure, and you will leave with wonderful memories of the trek and the beautiful experiences you had during your time in Nepal. Safe travels!
