Day 01: Arrival in the City of Arts & Architecture – Kathmandu [1400m]
Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), Kathmandu, our NTB Treks & Expeditions team will warmly welcome you and transfer you to your hotel. After check-in, you will receive a detailed briefing about the upcoming trek, ensuring you are well-prepared for the adventure. The rest of the day is free for you to relax or explore the vibrant streets of Thamel, where you can find trekking gear, souvenirs, and authentic Nepali cuisine. In the evening, enjoy a welcome dinner hosted by NTB Treks, where you will get a taste of Nepalese hospitality.
Day 02: Full-Day Pilgrimage & Cultural Sightseeing Tour
Today, we explore Kathmandu’s UNESCO-listed heritage sites, offering a blend of spirituality, history, and culture. The tour includes Pashupatinath Temple, a revered Hindu pilgrimage site; Boudhanath Stupa, one of the world’s largest stupas and a center for Tibetan Buddhism; Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple), a hilltop shrine with stunning city views; and Kathmandu Durbar Square, an ancient royal palace with intricate architecture. After an insightful day, we return to the hotel for final preparations before beginning our Ghorepani Poonhill Trekking adventure.
Day 03: Drive to Phedi via Pokhara & Trek to Dhampus [1,650m]
An early morning scenic drive to Pokhara (6-7 hours) takes us through beautiful landscapes alongside the Trishuli River, with views of rolling hills and rural villages. Upon reaching Pokhara, we continue driving for about 45 minutes to Phedi, the trek’s starting point. From here, we begin our short yet steep hike towards Dhampus, a traditional Gurung village with breathtaking views of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and Machhapuchhre (Fishtail Mountain). After reaching Dhampus, we will settle into a tea house for an overnight stay, surrounded by mesmerizing Himalayan scenery.
Day 04: Trek from Dhampus to Ghandruk [1,940m]
Today’s journey takes us deeper into the Annapurna region as we trek towards Ghandruk, one of the largest and most culturally rich Gurung villages. The trail winds through forests, terraced farmlands, and small settlements, offering a glimpse into the daily lives of locals. We stop for lunch at Deurali (2,100m), a scenic spot with stunning mountain backdrops. Continuing our trek, we descend through rhododendron forests before arriving at Ghandruk, where we can explore the Gurung Museum and enjoy the panoramic views of Annapurna South, Machhapuchhre, and Hiunchuli.
Day 05: Trek Through Dense Forests to Tadapani [2,630m]
After a hearty breakfast in Ghandruk, we begin our trek through dense rhododendron and oak forests, often encountering Langur monkeys and colorful Himalayan birds along the way. The uphill climb leads us to Tadapani, a peaceful and secluded village nestled in the heart of the Annapurna region. The views from Tadapani are spectacular, showcasing Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and Machhapuchhre (Fishtail Mountain) at close range. With the cool mountain air and serene surroundings, this is an ideal place to relax and enjoy the beauty of the Himalayas.
Day 06: Ascend to Ghorepani – A Classic Trail of Ghorepani Poonhill Trekking [2,860m]
Today’s trek is one of the most scenic sections of the Ghorepani Poonhill Trekking route. We follow a gradual uphill trail through lush rhododendron forests, which are especially vibrant in spring when the flowers are in full bloom. Along the way, we stop for lunch at Banthanti, a charming settlement offering incredible mountain views. As we ascend further, we reach Ghorepani, a bustling trekking village that serves as a key stop for trekkers heading towards Poonhill. In the evening, you are free to explore the village and enjoy the stunning sunset views over the Dhaulagiri and Annapurna ranges.
Day 07: Poonhill Sunrise Trek – The Highlight of Ghorepani Poonhill Trekking & Descent to Nayapul [1,070m]
We wake up before dawn for a pre-dawn hike to Poonhill (3,210m), the ultimate viewpoint of this trek. As the sun rises, we witness a breathtaking panorama of the Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, and Machhapuchhre ranges painted in golden hues. This moment is truly unforgettable and a highlight of Ghorepani Poonhill Trekking. After soaking in the beauty, we descend back to Ghorepani for breakfast before beginning our final trek down to Nayapul. Passing through Ulleri and Tikhedhunga, we enjoy our last moments in the Himalayan foothills before driving back to Pokhara, where we check into a hotel and relax by Phewa Lake.
Day 08: Return to Kathmandu – Celebrating the Successful Trek
After breakfast in Pokhara, we take a scenic drive back to Kathmandu, retracing the beautiful landscapes along the Trishuli River. Upon arrival, you have free time to explore Kathmandu at your own pace—perhaps doing some last-minute souvenir shopping in Thamel or visiting the Garden of Dreams for a relaxing afternoon. In the evening, NTB Treks & Expeditions hosts a special farewell dinner, celebrating the successful completion of your Ghorepani Poonhill Trekking journey.
Day 09: Departure from Nepal – End of a Memorable Trekking Experience
Today marks the end of your incredible trekking adventure in Nepal. Depending on your flight schedule, you will have free time to explore the city or relax at your hotel. Our team will transfer you to Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) for your departure, ensuring a smooth and hassle-free experience. As you bid farewell to Nepal, you will leave with unforgettable memories of the Himalayas, rich cultural experiences, and the incredible sunrise from Poonhill.
